Our 80 GHz radar level transmitters feature IP68 protection against water and dust ingress. But even a well-protected instrument has its limitations.
βοΈ When temperatures drop below -10Β°C (14Β°F), the radar sensor can continue measuring, while the LCD display may become sluggish or difficult to read. Warmer midday temperatures may temporarily restore its readability. Thats simply one of the characteristics of LCD technology.
βοΈ Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures can also cause LCD screens to darken, lose contrast, or temporarily stop displaying properly.
So, if the weather is hot enough that you feel like wearing a hat, dont forget your radar level transmitter might appreciate some shade, too! π
Reliable measurement is about more than IP ratings. Understanding the operating environment and protecting the instrument accordingly are equally important.
